SARAH LEDDY
Sarah Leddy is a Los Angeles-based choreographer and Laban Movement Specialist who uses movement to initiate dialogue about what it means to live in our current world. Her work draws upon experimental dance and theater practices, often using humor to comment on the act of performing. Her dances have been presented at Pieter Performance Space, REDCAT Studio, and Pennington Dance Group’s Dance Dialogues. Sarah earned an M.F.A. from UCLA’s World Arts and Cultures / Dance program, and a Certification in Laban / Bartenieff Movement Analysis from Integrated Movement Studies.
Sarah is a member of the Gold Collective, utilizing our performance networks to engage in political movement building. With her collaborators in the Gold Collective, she curates and produces The Gold Series, an annual experimental dance gathering that brings together performances addressing ever-changing ideas and themes of gold. This year they also hosted weekly “Gold Your Vote” zoom parties designed as a virtual meeting space for people who wanted to engage in actions to get out the vote and fight voter suppression in the 2020 presidential election, as well as local campaigns. They met their goal of reaching 10,000 voters before the election. Sarah teaches dance at Cal State Long Beach, Pomona College, and Pasadena City College.
