As a choreographer, Sarah Leddy creates physical situations that gesture to states of consciousness related to failure and vulnerability, and that comment on the act of performing. In her dances, the body makes claims about what it can do, though it may be unable to succeed. In messing up, or doing it wrong, unexpected innovations and exciting possibilities unfold. Sarah’s dances have been presented in Los Angeles at Highways Performance Space, Diavalo Dance Space, Anatomy Riot, and the Fowler Museum at UCLA, and in San Francisco at counterPULSE. She has performed at LACMA and the Box Gallery with Simone Forti, the REDCAT with Liz Hoefner, Highways Performance Space with Mira Kingsley, the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla with Keith Hennessy and LOWER LEFT in the Satellite Project, and at the Judson Church with Kelly Nipper in the PERFORMA Festival. Sarah received her MFA in Dance from UCLA’s Department of World Arts and Cultures / Dance and is a 2013 recipient of the CHIME (Choreographers in Mentorship Exchange) program.
